Alan Kucheck has been a VP of Engineering for software companies including Borland Software and Quest Software. In that capacity, he managed globally distributed software engineering teams for over two decades, built highly productive teams from scratch, conceived and built products that have achieved lifetime revenue of hundreds of millions of dollars, was awarded two patents, and managed a global team of more than 800 engineers, with responsibility for a $62M budget. During this time he worked with executives at global companies including FedEx, McKesson, EDS, Pepsi, and USAA to elicit their software requirements and build products that met their needs. Prior to entering the software industry he was an air traffic controller for 5 years at the busiest single-runway airport in the US and claims it is the most fun anyone can be legally paid to do. He is an active pilot with over 1000 hours and is single-engine land, multi-engine land, and instrument-rated. He is married and has one son.
