Kate Sackman is a collaborative business strategist and mentor whose core value is to empower people to activate the best in themselves and their organizations.

Prior to joining Advantary, Kate served as the Director of Venture Programs at Florida International University (FIU), where she taught and mentored hundreds of entrepreneurs and startup companies. Her expertise is in growth strategy, marketing, branding, communications, company culture, financial modeling, and new products. Kate was also an adjunct professor in several departments at FIU teaching Global Social Entrepreneurship, Lean Business Planning for Engineers, and Environmental Entrepreneurship.

Kate has co-founded and led two companies including a medical imaging company that sold to a strategic partner. Her second venture was a science education and environmental media venture with 25 scientific partners, including the National Wildlife Federation. She is a lifelong environmental advocate and leader in land preservation and conservation science, including working for several years with Botanic Gardens Conservation International.

Earlier in her career, Kate worked for JP Morgan as a banker to large energy companies, as well as in brand management at Kraft Foods. As president of the Dartmouth Entrepreneurial Network in Chicago, she mentored and collaborated with aspiring and early-stage entrepreneurs. She has also served for several years as a judge for the University of Chicago Booth School’s annual Social New Venture Challenge.
