Steve Douty has dedicated his career to digital transformation, in many forms. He has spent the past 25 years in a variety of executive positions, including marketing, sales, product, business development and IT, and is a three-time CEO. He’s raised $100M in venture capital, signed more than $300M in contracts and has three exits totaling nearly $900M. His wide range of experience includes Enterprise SaaS, Consulting, Telecom, Consumer Internet, Digital Media, Education, CyberSecurity and Big Data.

The first eight years of Steve’s career were in enterprise sales positions. Then, in 1990, he was named CIO of Paradyne, a $700M tech manufacturer. He then joined Houston-based systems integrator BSG as a general manager, opened their SiValley office and helped grow revenues from $12M to $80M in four years and sell the company for $460M.

As the fourth employee and COO of Hotmail, he grew revenues to $20M in two years and was the lead negotiator for its sale to Microsoft for $400M. He then spent two years running about half of MSN in Redmond and leading the acquisition of two companies for a total of $250M.

In 2000, he co-founded award-winning Octopus Software and sold it to two years later. He then co-founded and was VP Marketing for Moxie Software, currently a $40M customer support SaaS vendor. His first experience with AI was as EVP Marketing for LivePerson, an intelligent chat platform. He then went on to run about $1B of Yahoo!’s business as SVP Product Management. He then co-founded Smaarts, a cybersecurity company that applied real-time analytics to streaming big data.

He’s also been an advisor and interim exec for more than 15 startups in a range of sectors including SaaS, infrastructure, biotech, healthcare, consumer Internet and financial services – including working with the CEO of Israel-based Blazemeter (acq. by Computer Associates) to successfully enter the US market.

After spending 16 years growing up in Mexico and Belgium, he earned a degree in Computer Science from Dartmouth College. He and his wife live in the Bay Area and have seven wonderful, grown children and one newborn grandchild. He’s a golfer and guitar player, and is passionate about (when not frustrated by) both.
